Poker run

This last sunday was the annual poker run put on my San tran lions club. It was a 4x4 run. There was all kinds I'd lifted trucks and jeeps. We took my truck, my uncles tahoe and my friend Billy with his jeep. It was a long trail to get to the play area where everyone gets to go in the mud pits to test out there rides. I was the leader in my 4x4 s10 and everyone followed me. When we got to the play area I took my truck threw a mud pit and it was a deep one but my truck made it easy. The my uncle with his tahoe made it too then the jeep went around to try another pit but he got stuck so we had to pull him out. We wanted to get more action so we found a dirt bike trail and we went threw it, it wad bad because our rides got scratched up because no vechcles have ip in that trail only dirt bikes. I took one good picture but it wouldn't upload on a phone on blogger, then we had to make our own trail to get down, our vehicles were running over big bushes. It was really fun. We took videos and pictures on my friend camera. Then we meet everyone at the bar to eat and open our poker hands and the raffle, we didn't win anything but we had a blast Sunday.

snow run

Sunday we went on a Snow Run that was put on by 4 wheel parts. They said it was customer appreciation day so everything was going to be free. We woke up early to get my buddies uncles jeep running and his diesel running to because we were going to pull the jeep with the diesel up into the mountains. so we leave around 630 and we had to meet everybody at the 4 wheel parts store in Fresno. They told us where we were going and they said we would have to meet one more time at a shop just past oakhusrt for some coffee and donuts. then we take off to go to the trails. we knew there was alot of snow up there so we packed heavy with clothes. when we get there everyone gets ready to enter the snow because there was alot of it and you didnt want to slide or get stuck. everyone deflated there tires to get more traction for the snow. i tell you what it really helps too! i remeber there was a line of trucks mostly jeeps and there were waiting for something so we get out and go look, there was a guy in a truck stuck and almost of a little hill and they had 2 trucks pulling him out because he didnt want to ruin his truck by falling into the hill. we got stuck a couple of times threw out the day but we had fun for the most part. we had snowball fights and playing baseball in the snow. it was an overall good day.

This past weekend was the jr hunt out at mendota wildlife area. I me my dad and my sisters boyfriend took my brother out hunting for ducks and geese. It was his first time hunting.my brother Tyler only shot a shotguns a few times and he was kinda nervous to shoot again. We get out to the tule patch where we wanted to go because that's where we had sucess at, it was a tough walk onto the pond because the pond was disced so there was low spit and high spots in the pond. I fell into a hole and I almost got water inside my waders but I got lucky, my brother lost his shoes and lucky we found them because it would of been hard to walk in that pond without them. we finnaly get set up and we start blowing our duck calls and here comes the ducks. First came a big ol fat mallard drake and my brother shoots and he misses, I got a lil upset because he he is the only one who gets to shoot. The later the pintail starts coming around and he smacks a nice pintail and about 15 minutes later he gets another pintail, I was like man we created a killer like us. The more ducks come and he gets 3 more ducks in a 30 minute period of time, we were thinking that he only needs 2 more ducks for a limit of 7. 2 spoonies come on and he smacks them both. There's his limit! Bit wait there's geese flying around so we stayed for a bit and he comes the geese. A group of them come in and they are very low and my brother Tyler doubles up on geese, we were very proud of him and he says he want to hunt next season too. It was a very good day.

Mendota Wildlife Area

This weekend we went out to Mendota Wildlife Area to go hunts ducks.  Many people dont know you can duck hunt out there. But there is many places to hunt at mendota. Mendota Wildlife Area is the biggest wildlife area in California with 12,000 acres and can allow up to 600 hunters.


We wake up at 4am because you have to so you can get a good pond where the ducks like to go to.  so i wake up at 4 am and i am really tired because i didnt get off of work until 9 pm friday night and we had to wake up at 4 am saturday morning .  plus i still had to go home and get my stuff ready to go and sleep in the trailer at mendota.  once they rangers let us in to the refuge we had to haul butt out to the pond we wanted because i heard theres been alot of ducks and geese around there so many people were going there to the spot we were going to . we had people on our butt from the check station to the parking lot. it was bad.

When we got to the road we walk on to the pond we did a drop off move and had a runner go and save the tule patch we wanted to hunt.  thank god we got the spot because we had a good day we shot 21 ducks and 2 geese. What a Day! Jordan Espino
